The Cherokee County Conservation Board (CCCB) is hosting a Halloween Hike on Saturday at Silver Sioux Recreation Area. The night will be filled with activities for everyone from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
The evening will begin with trick-or-treating in the campground. Costumes and campsite decorating are encouraged.
For those looking for something a little more adventurous, the CCCB is teaming up with various 4-H volunteers to guide you on the haunted trail, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Hop on the trail in the early evening for some sunlight, but bring a flashlight to help find your way on this moderately challenging hike when it gets dark.
Other activities will take place throughout the evening such as a treasure hunt (you'll need your trusty flashlight for this event), pumpkin painting, and a nocturnal animals program. All activities will begin inside or near the barn.
CCCB is looking for volunteers who are willing to help with the evening's activities. Please call or e-mail the office if you're interested. In the event of inclement weather, the Halloween Hike will be cancelled. Please dress for the weather. A warm fire and hot beverages will be offered during this event as well. This event is free and open to the public.
