Tom Keller is ready to start his door- to -door ticket sales for the annual Needy Children Fundraiser in Cherokee County. Keller is also seeing busnesses to raise funds. "He is really a hueh help to me," said Organizer Stan Sitzmann.
The purpose of this fundraiser starts with the Head Start children and then the pre-Head Start children, to outfit them with a full line of clothing at Christmas time. Recipients also include any names the Needy Children group receives from the area churches and public.
Sitzmann and Keller raise funds by selling tickets for a drawing and auction at the Brightside Lounge in downtown Cherokee.
Tickets are $1each for the raffle for $300 worth of groceries and $100 second place prize and $50 for third place. If you purchase $5 worth of tickets or more, you will recive a free lottery ticket.
The auction at the Brightside Lounge will be on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. with a free bean and chilli lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All proceeds raised are spent here in Cheroke County.
Sitzmann adds, "We hope you will be generous again so we can help as many children as we can. It costs close to $150 per child and we outfitted 160 last year."
Sitzmann also stated that Bruce Dreckman of Marccus, who is a Major League Baseball umpire, has been taking care of the Marcus area and really doing a great job, along with his wife Dana.
If you would like to donate something for the auction, it can be left at the Brightside after 2 p.m. each day.
