PAULLINA - The South O'Brien Cross Country Meet was run here Monday on the Paullina Golf Course in excellent weather conditions. Boyden-Hull / Rock Valley topped the Boys Varsity team standings with a score of 46 points, and host South O'Brien took second, scoring 65 points.
Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn also ran in the meet, but didn't have enough runners to qualify for the team title.
George/Little Rock/ Central Lyon won the Girls varsity team title, scoring 45 points to best runner-up Boyden Hull/Rock Valley (86). The South O'Brien girls finished sixth with 145 points. MMC/RU again did not have enough runners to qualify for the team title.
The South O'Brien boys JV finished second in the JV Boys Team standings.
Individually, South O'Brien's Luke Hoger was the top finisher among area athletes in the Boys 5k varsity run, finishing 8th with a ime of 17:43.13. His Wolverine teammates Danile Patterson and Brian Haden finished 12th and 13th respectively, posting times of 18:04.12 and 18:31.97' Ben Aberson of South O'Brien took 15th, in 18:45.82; and other Wolverine runners included Tanner Hedberg , who was 17th, in 18:52.71; Daniel Haden was 25th, in 19:20.86; and Sean Anderson was 28th, with a time of 19:31.49.
Zack Kellogg posted MMC/RU's top finish, placing 37th with a time of 20:53.23, with teammates Nathan Ruba and Mark Peters also placing 39th and 45th, respectively, with times of 21:20.19 and 22:50.10.
In the Girls' 4k varsity run, South O'Brien's Halee Rahbusch placed third, with a time of 17:00.37, while MMC/RU's Kayla Brady finished 18th with a time of 18:38.28; South O'Brien's Miranda Liebsack finished 25th, with a time of 19:24.58; and MMC/RU's Sarah Bird was 33rd, with a time of 19:50.42.
Other South O'Brien runners included Olivia Sickelka (38th, 20:31.99), Kellie Einck (39th, 20:39.20), Ariel Wohlert (40th, 20:44.00) and Rebecca Thiel (46th, 22:29.58).
South O'Brien's Wyatt Hicks finsished 4th in the JV Boys race, with a time of 19:31.398, while his Wolverine teammate Kyle Paulsen took 9th, in 19:58.10. Hunter Fiddelke, Wyatt Sickelka, Jacob Roos, Ross Johansen, Brody Schiefen, Bobby McCauley and Daniel Wester also ran for the Wolverine boys jv team.
