SIOUX CITY - The ranked Ridge View volleyball team dropped three of four matches at Saturday's rugged Sioux City Heelan Classic.
The Raptors of coach Scott Mitchell lost 27-25, 25-15 to Sioux Center; lost 21-25, 25-18, 15-9 to Council Bluffs Lewis Central; lost 24-26, 25-19, 15-12 to Le Mars; and beat Sioux City East 25-13, 25-14.
Ther Ridge View team totaled 252-291 hitting, and served 192-206 for 93 percent and 13 aces on the day. The Raptors also registered 219 digs and 35 blocks, with 107 set assists.
Individual kill leaders included Gretchen Kistenmacher 30, Kaitly Madsen 23, and Anna Davis 23. Assist leader was Nicole Snyder with 95, and Davis was ace serve leader with six.
Dig leaders were Dana Hustedt 64, Kistenmacher 47, and Ashlynn Blenner 46. Block leaders were Madsen 11, Jayde Vondrak eight, and Davis six.
"We played well throughout the day and gave ourselves a chance to win a couple of more matches," noted Mitchell. "We just didn't make some plays when we needed to.
"This level of competition will hopefully prepare us for the upcoming Regionals."
Ridge View ends its regular season with a 28-7 match record and a 7-1 Western Valley Conference mark.
