River Valley, South O'Brien seasons end

Several area teams played Second Round Regional Volleyball Tournament games on Tuesday.

In Class 1A, River Valley traveled to LeMars to take on Gehlen Catholic, and the 7th ranked Lady Jays won in three sets, by game scores of 25-11, 25- 8, 25- 12. Gehlen now moves on to the Regional semi-final, where they will play Remsen-Union Friday night in Akron.

Olivia Goettsch and Alysa Georgopoulos each blocked three shots for the Wolverines, who finish their season with a 4-30 record.

In Class 2A, South O'Brien played Sibley-Ocheydan at Sibley, and the Generals won a tough four set match by game scores of 25-23, 28-30, 25-23, 25-16. Sibley-Ocheydan will meet perennial state powerhouse Western Christian Friday night at Hull.

There was no statistical information available on the SOS - Sibley-O match.

11th-ranked Ridge View hosted another Class 2A second round game at Schaller, and the Raptors were victorious over Sioux Central, 25-17, 25- 18, 25- 19, to move on in tournament play.

Gretchen Kistenmacher had 14 kills and Angela Davis 11 for Ridge View, while Nicole Snyder dished out 24 assists and Emily Forristal blocked five shots. Ridge View coach Scott Mitchell said that the team's 10 day layoff showed in their being a little slow and out-o-sync on the court.

The Raptors (30-7) will meet Boyden-Hull Friday night in Regional Semi-final play at Schaller.
