Ridge View football team falls at IKM Manning

MANNING - Undefeated IKM Manning handled a fast-improving Ridge View football team 28-7 to win the championship of Class 1A District 2 here Friday night with a 9-0 record.

Ridge View also qualified for the State Playoffs, finishing its season with a 4-5 mark after winning three of their last four games. The Raptors' reward was a first-round playoff game at 8-1 Emmetsburg, the E-Hawks' lone setback to Class 2A District 1 champion Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (34-14).

Ridge View's lone touchdown against IKM Manning was a Dru Kenny run and a Jesus Nava PAT. Kenny rushed 18 times for 51 yards, quartreback Ryan Garthoff carried the ball 16 times for 54 yards, and Matt Wandrey had six carries for 19 yards.

Garthoff completed 10-18 passes for 139 yards and one interception.

Defensively for the Raptors, Jared Hinkeldey totaled 16 tackles, followed by Michael Davidson 11, Wandrey eight, and Kirby Goettsch seven.

IKM Manning QB Scott Opperman passed for two TDs, including a 66-yard bomb to Sam Wegner, and a 35-yard connection to Dillon Muhlbauer. The winners rushed for two more TDs - a 5-yard run by Cody Eischeid, and 1-yard burst by Shayne Wiese.
