HOLSTEIN - The State Qualifying Meets for Classes 1A and 2A, which had been postponed from their originally scheduled date of last Thursday due to inclement weather, were held on Monday on the Holstein Golf Course.
In the Class 2A Boys race, Spirit Lake's Will Norris took first place individually, completing the 5k course in a time of 16:03.65.
Among competitors from the Chronicle Times coverage area, Ridge View junior Jason Kenny finished 4th, with a time of 17:03.72; Cherokee's Eamon Adamson was 15th, with a time of 17:44.19; Braves teammate Jaden Lux was 20th, running in a time of 17:58.77; Ridge View's Christian Egger finished 37th, with a time of 18:30.78; the Raptors' Sergio Carbajal was 46th, with a time of 18:56.60; Cherokee's Andy Pitts finished 59th, with a time of 19:34.48; Ridge View's Charlie Kliegl finished 69th with his time of 19:59.24 and teammate Luke Kliegl was 71st (20:01.07).
Another pair of Ridge View runners, Gabe Carbajal and Zach Kenny, finished 79th and 82nd, respectively, with their times of 20:47.89 and 21:04.24; and Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn's Roman Galles finished 81st, with a time of 20:57.52, and his Eagle teammates Zack Kellogg, Nathan Ruba and Mark Peters finished 84th, 91st and 94th, respectively, with their times of 21:19.02, 22:42.59 and 25:03.15.
Okoboji took the Boys 2A Team title with Spirit Lake a close second. Ridge View finished 8th.
In the Class 2A Girls Meet, Hanna Benningsdorf of Cherokee, a junior, had the best finish of area school girls, finishing 24th, with a time of 17:38.87 over the 4k course. Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn's Nicki Schwarz, also a junior, finished 31st with a time of 17:50.40.
Other CT - coverage area athletes included Cherokee's Breeanna DeVos, 49th, with a time of 18:36.83; Ridge View's Rachel Boyle, 54th, in 19:26.65; Ridge View's Kate Mathes, 61st in 19:48.01; the Raptors' Rachel Hunt, 63rd in 20:00.87; Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn's Sarah Bird, 65th, in 20:13.10; Cherokee's Baily Gaydo and Danni Roethler, 67th and 68th, respectively, in 20:15.61 and 20:15.91; Ridge View's Sami Naberhaus, Susie Collier, Melissa Brandt and Angela Livesey, who finished in 73rd, 75th, 78th and 81st, respectively, with times of 20:31.63, 20:46.20, 21:40.17 and 22:33.16; and Cherokee's Abby Lubeck and Dallas Ellis, who finished 83rd and 84th, respectively, with times of 24:00.67 and 27:18.01.
Unity Christian took the Girls 2A Team title, with Western Christian second and Spirit Lake third. Cherokee finished 11th and Ridge View finished 12th.
