In a brief weekly meeting, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors was presented with two Utility Permit applications by County Engineer Dave Shanahan.
One application, from Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, involved a single phase overhead line of 7200 volts, to relocate two existing services. The proposed line will be located 5 1/2 miles west and 4 miles north of Washta, beginning in the NE corner of the intersection of 610th Street and B Avenue and proceeding approximately 1/4 miles north, west and east from that point.
The other application was from Cherokee Rural Water, requesting underground construction of a potable 2" water transmission line crossing E Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile south of 510th Street in Amherst Township, Sections 2 NE 1.4 and 23 NW 1/4.
The Board approved both applications.
Shanahan also mentioned that there will be work done on 520th Street, between U and V Avenues, starting next week, and that the road would be closed to traffic during the time of road work.
In other business, the Supervisors agreed that there would not be a Board Meeting on Tuesday November 6, due to it being Election Day. This will be the case unless a very important issue should arise in the meantime which equires a Board meeting.
It was also determined that the Board meeting which would normally have been held on Tuesday, November 13, will instead meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, due to other conflicts.
