ORANGE CITY - The #11-ranked Ridge View Raptors took on perennial powerhouse Hull Western Christian in a Class 2A Regional Volleyball final here on Wednesday, and the Wolfpack were just too much for Scott Mitchell's game Ridge View team, as they downed the Raptors in three sets, 25-10. 25-12, 25-8.
Ridge View, which finishes the season with an excellent record of 30-8, was led by seniors Kaitlynn Madsen and Gretchen Kistenmacher, who scored five and four kills, respective;y, against the Wolfpack. Junior Anna Davis added three kills, and senior Nicole Snyder led the team in assists, dishing out eight passes to her teammates. The Raptors were only able to block four Western Christian shots, one each by Emily Forristal, Lexi Johnson, Kaitlynn Madsen and Jayde Vondrak.
The Raptors landed all 31 of their serves successfully with no ace serves.
Western Christian (41-3) advances to the State Tournament at the Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids next week, where they will play Treynor (31-6) in a quarterfinal match on Thursday, with the winner to meet the winner of the Lake Mills (43-0)- Carroll Kuemper (32-5) match on Friday.
The Championship match will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 10.
