Final City yard-waste pickup

Friday, November 2, 2012

The City of Cherokee has announced that yard-waste will be picked up by Sanitary Servies on your regular recyclable service day on the following dates:

Thursday, Nov. 8 - West side of town and Rock Island, Parkview Additions

Friday, Nov. 9 - East side of town.

Yard-waste will be picked up at your normal pickup location but must be kept separate from your recyclables that are also picked up on those dates.

Yard-waste will be picked up only if it is in paper sacks, boxes or garbage cans. Plastic bags will not be picked up.

Branches must be tied in bundles and in lengths not to exceed 4 feet.

Also, yard-waste can be bagged and taken to the Cherokee County Landfill yourself at no charge during their hours of operation.

The City reminds residents that there is no open burning season for yard-waste in city limits.
