On Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Western Iowa Tech Community College campus in Cherokee, the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation and WITCC are hosting a meeting for CEOs, Owners, Managers and Human Resource Directors. Bbreakfast will be provided.
* For our workers: they have ability to demonstrate skills to current and potential employers allowing opportunities for career change and advancement.
* For our businesses: they gain assurance that employees have the right skill sets. It will assist with hiring procedures, reduced turnover and training costs, increased productivity and raise employee morale.
* For our community: it can demonstrate that we have a talented workforce to fill current and future jobs which can be a valuable tool to attract new businesses to the area and enhance economic growth opportunities.
Angie Lawson, Director of Economic Development for Western Iowa Tech Community College, will present job training options for businesses offered through the college, including information about the 260E & 260F programs and on-site training opportunities.
Mark Buschkamp, Executive Director of CAEDC, will demonstrate how Cherokee County businesses can easily post job openings on the CAEDC website (www.cherokeeia.com) and how CAEDC promotes those opening through RSS feeds and social media.
Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority will speak about the current emphasis of workforce development in economic development and the current state of Iowa's business climate.
