Cherokee Community Theater has once again contracted with the industry standard for theatrical flight services, Flying by Foy, for the upcoming production

In collaboration with Cherokee Community Schools and Lee Thorson, Conductor of the Cherokee Symphony, CCT plans to present a Broadway musical extravaganza, complete with larger-than-life musical dance numbers and characters who take flight on stage.

Flight Director, Dustin Donahoe, from Flying by Foy said, "Foy provides flying effects worldwide, for everything from Broadway shows, professional and not-for-profit theatres, ballet and opera companies, concerts, feature films, television and other types of productions, too numerous to mention. My job requires a lot of travel, but I have to say I am looking forward to the chance to work with the folks in Cherokee. I've heard from my colleagues that they are a really good organization to work with."

"We are pleased to have Foy return to Cherokee, " said CCT's Flight Captain, Rick Angell. "We first used their services in 1996 for 'Peter Pan' and then again in 2007 for 'The Wizard of Oz'. In both instances the audiences loved the flying and came from a wide region to see sold-out shows. Foy already knows our stage and our logistical requirements which help us maximize the three days of rehearsal time we have with Dustin. After that, our flight crew takes it from there for all of the performances."

Foy has flown hundreds of famous musicians from Katy Perry to David Bowie in concert to Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga at major music awards programs. Actors including Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Alec Baldwin and Renee Zellwegger have all sported Foy flying harnesses for television and film.

Amy Sarchet, Musical Director for the CCT production pf 'A Christmas Carol', commented, "Several students from the Cherokee School District are participating in this show. I hope this will be a fun learning experience for them and a breathtaking effect for the audience." Sarchet, who played the title role in CCT's production of 'Peter Pan' said, "That was a fun, but rigorous experience. Flying looks so effortless on stage, but the behind-the-scenes work and choreography that goes into it is incredible. I'm excited for some of my students to get the chance to fly in this production."
