Police sponsor 'Toys For Tots'

Monday, November 12, 2012

The Cherokee Police Department and their families are again sponsoring the annual "Toys For Tots" Program to provide the needy kids of Cherokee County with presents at Christmas time.

This year the Cherokee Police are anticipating approximately 100 children at the annual Toys For Tots party scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 16.

Santa Claus will be present to hand the children their presents and the Police Committee also tries to provide the children with some of the basic essentials that we take for granted, such as underclothes, clothing, coats, mittens, and hats. They are not able to provide the clothing essentials for all the children, but they try to provide for those with the most need.

The Cherokee Police Department welcomes any kind of donation from businesses, civic groups, and individuals in the County. Donations may be mailed or dropped off at the Cherokee Police Department, 230 W. Maple St., Cherokee, Iowa 51012.
