Bailey Kay Cordova, 11 year old daughter of Chris and Carrie Cordova, of Cherokee, passed away on Sunday morning, November 11, 2012 in the Children's Hospital in Omaha, Neb. due to complications of open heart surgery.

Funeral services were held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Jon Riggert officiated. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There was a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church today. Visitation was on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Bailey was born on Jan. 10, 2001 at Cherokee, to Ted "Chris" and Carrie (Nielsen) Cordova. She was baptized on Jan. 11, 2001 at Omaha, Neb. She was currently a fifth grader at Cherokee Middle School in Cherokee. She liked the outdoors, spending time with her parents and loved to go shopping for clothes.

She is survived by her parents Ted "Chris" and Carrie Cordova of Cherokee; a sister Breanna Nielsen and a brother Andrew Freese both at home in Cherokee; maternal grandparents Carl and Connie Nielsen of Cherokee; paternal grandparents Ted and Donna Cordova of Walsenburg, Colo.; a special nephew Logan; aunts and uncles: Cindy and Randy Weflen of Aurelia; Colby Nielsen of Cherokee; Juanita Cordova of Walsenburg, Colo.; Tony Cordova of Walsenburg, Colo.; special cousins: Nathan and Kimberly Weflen, Donna Lynn Medina and Krista Cordova.
