The regular dinner and business meeting of the Cherokee Wa Tan Ye Club was held Monday evening, November 12 at Danny's Sports Spot. Marci Brown provided the desert at the conclusion of the meeting.
Nine members were in attendance and reported over 100 hours of community service for the past month.
Diane Onken was welcomed as a new member of the Cherokee Wa Tan Ye Club.
The club has prepared a basket to be included in this year's Friends of the Library silent auction fund raiser at the Cherokee Public Library. A cooking and baking theme with some pretty Christmas bowls created the theme for this basket.
Sanford Museum will again host the Festival of Trees for the community, and the club will participate and decorate a tree for this festive event.
The local Back Pack Program for school children in Cherokee will receive a donation from the Cherokee Wa Tan Ye Club. Also three SHARE Christmas Dinner Packages will be given to local families from the club.
Arlene Hultman gave an informative and interesting report on her attendance at the National Wa Tan Ye Convention at Clinton, Iowa that was held October 12-14. Next year the site for this convention will be Emmetsburg, and the theme chosen for it will be "People Helping People."
On December 10 Katy Hupke will be hostess for a Christmas dinner at her home, with Mary Bofenkamp as co-hostess. A gift exchange is planned that will reveal who the members' Secret Sisters have been this year.
