Rose E. Godbersen, 79, of rural Quimby, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, 2012 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Rose was born on September 27, 1933 at Holstein, Iowa to Otto and Lillie (Meister) Todd. Her youth was spent in rural Holstein area. She attended Country School and graduated from Quimby High School. She worked as a secretary for the Quimby Schools until her marriage to Peter T. Godbersen on March 16, 1958 at Holstein, Iowa. She was a farmwife and enjoyed gardening. She took a lot of pride in her garden and enjoyed many flowers, but roses were her favorite. She was a seamstress and an artist. She enjoyed teaching crafts during Bible School. Above all she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. There were always cookies available and homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast when visiting grandma's house. She was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph, Eugene, and Dale Todd; sister Agnes Boock and her husband Leroy; daughter-in-law Sandy Godbersen; brothers-in-law Wilbert Godbersen and Gerhardt Neimeier; sister-in-law Lorraine Bertelson Dose and her husbands Louis Bertelson and Albert Dose.
She is survived by her husband Peter; four children: Bryan (Brenda) Godbersen of Rock Valley; Bruce (Cindy) Godbersen of Cleghorn; Brad Godbersen of Sioux City; Becky (Greg) Hoffarth of Shakopee, Minn.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Josh and Ashley Godbersen of George, Iowa and children Hailey and Kolton; Julie and Jason Baumgarn of Lake Park, and children Jackson, Javen and Jausten; Jeri and Michael Kruger of Granville, and daughter Charlee; Scott and Desiree Godbersen of Neosho, Mo. and children Kaylin and Kaleb; Todd Godbersen and fiancÚ Maggie Reichow of Bloomington, Minn.; Russ Godbersen of Cleghorn; Phillip and Nathan Hoffarth of Shakopee, Minn.; sisters: Gladys Todd of Quimby; Eva (Robert) Dittmer of Holstein; brothers: Donald (Delores J.) Todd of Quimby; Clarence (Bernice) Todd of Quimby; Darrel (Elvera) Todd of Holstein; Frank (Carolyn) Todd of Holstein; Gail (Nancy) Todd of Holstein; Ken (Jane) Todd of Quimby; sisters-in-law: Donna Todd of Spencer; Delores I. Todd of Washta; Caroline Neimeier of Holstein; Donna Godbersen of Cherokee; Mary (Darrell) Gebers of Galva; Janet (Butch) Rehse of Ida Grove; Judy Johnston of Lincoln, Neb.; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
