HOLSTEIN - The Ridge View Raptors hosted the Alta-Aurelia Warriors in a non-conference basketball tilt here on Monday night, and the Ridge View girls came out on top in the varsity girls' game by a score of 46-38.
The Raptors jumped out to a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but A-A cut the margin by two in the second frame and had a 32-31 lead heading into the 4th quarter.
Alta-Aurelia mentor Rory Payne said, "The game was well-played by both teams, but we couldn't overcome runs that Ridge View made after we would battle back and tie or take the lead. I thought we played hard and smart,, and we definitely played better than our first game. We could have shot better but it is coming. "
The Warriors were led in scoring by seniors Taler Stanton, who scored 17 points, and Val Hernandez who scored 12 . Stanton also led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while Tayler Rohwer had six. Hernandez also dished out five assists and Rohwer had six steals.
