MANSON - A talented Manson NW Webster girls basketball team doubled the score on the young Cherokee Washington High girls in a season opener here Monday night by the score of 58-27.
Kaely Hummel led Cherokee's meager scoring output with nine points, while Emily Haselhoff and Megan Hummel each tallied six, and Jasey Stowater four.
Ellie Herzberg paced the host Cougars with 21 points, and Faith Troshynski scored 11.
Cherokee sank just 9-52 field goals for a scant 17 percent, including 1-7 from the three-point arc. The WHS gals also totaled 20 turnovers in the game.
Ariana Smith led Cherokee on the boards with nine rebounds, followed by Kaely Hummel with seven, Megan Hummel six, and Stowater six.
Manson NW Webster raced out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and ballooned that to 31-12 at halftime to lead from start to finish.
