I know Thanksgiving and November are gone, but I'd like to take this opportunity to let our patrons know how much I appreciate all those who have volunteered their time and talents to help with our programs and activities at the library.
I am also thankful for book donations the children's department has received throughout the year. The Children's Department also just received several new puzzles. There are also organizations and businesses that support our library. Thank you all for your support and generosity.
Last month the children's department had a special program for adults. Fran Briggs, the Apron Lady, was pleased with the group of ladies who came to her program. She had lots of aprons and stories she shared about her apron collection. The ladies had a good time reminiscing about the different types of aprons and how they were used.
I'm sure your calendars are filling up fast with events, shopping, and the holiday bustle. I'd like to share a few dates to mark on your calendar for programs at the library. If anyone has guests for the holidays we'd enjoy having them come to these programs also.
Terrific Toddlers will meet Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This program is for children ages 1-3 and their parents. There'll be stories, singing, dancing, finger plays, and rhymes.
It's also a great chance to spend time with your child/children and get acquainted with other parents and their children. Hope to see you then. This group meets one Saturday out of each month.
As usual, the Preschool Story Time for 3 -- 5 year olds will meet Tuesday. Dec. 4, 11, and 18 from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. Because Christmas falls on a Tuesday we will have story time on Friday, December 28 from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. We will listen to stories, sing songs, and do a craft.
Can you guess who will be coming to our library? She said she enjoyed seeing all the boys and girls last year and was hoping she would be able to come again. That's right! Our family bedtime story hour will be with Mrs. Claus Thursday, Dec. 13 from 6:30 -- 7:30 p.m. She will read to all the boys and girls and each child will receive a treat. We will also make a craft and sing some Christmas songs. Mrs. Claus is anxious to see everyone!
Kindergarten -- 6th grade students here's a special program you won't want to miss. Lisa Laird and her puppet friends are back. They will amaze you with stories, magic, and fascinating facts about St. Nicholas and other traditions of the season. Students need to ride the IC bus to the library. Lisa will present her program at the library in the story time room upstairs on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 3:45 -- 4:45 p.m. She will have prizes for all who can come. All ages are welcome. Hope to see you then.
If you are looking for something to do during the Winter Break come to the library Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 28 from 2 -- 3 p.m. for some interesting make and take crafts.
Not a craft person? How about games? The library has a new, fast paced, and exciting game which is sweeping the nation, BUNCO. Come find out what the talk is all about! We will also have board games and card games for those who like a little quieter activity.
Don't forget to stop by and pick up the December newsletter so you don't miss out on the fun.
