The elementary students at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn spent their PE classes in November raising funds for the American Heart Association and getting to work with some wonderful community volunteers.

Mark Brighton, the PE instructor, organized centers for the second and third grade students which provided the opportunity for the students to jump rope in various ways. He also organized centers for the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades with opportunities to learn a variety of basketball shots.

The students did their part by collecting donations from family and friends and either jumping rope or shooting baskets for several hours during the month of November.

Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart were a great success thanks to generous families and wonderful volunteers.

Organizers would like to thank Pat Bird, Don Cave, Brian Dreckman, Bruce Dreckman, Tim Dreckman, Mark Hurd, and Jerry Martin for giving of their time and talent to help the MMC students support a worthwhile cause and learn many useful sport skills.

Jump Rope for Heart raised $1,828 and Hoops for Heart raised $1,983.
