John V. Anderson, age 100, of Dunnell, Minn., passed away Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Sanford Medical Center in Jackson, Minn.
Funeral services are being held today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell, Minn., with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7:0 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn, Minn.
John Victor Anderson was born Dec. 14, 1911 in Cottonwood County, Minn. where he also received his education. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945. While stationed in New Orleans during WWII, he married Ethelyn Larson in the Chapel at Jackson Army Barracks. Upon his honorable discharge on December 13, 1945 they moved to Rockford, Ill. where they both worked at the American Cabinet Corporation until 1947 when they moved to the Trimont, Minn. area to farm. In 1956 they moved to rural Dunnell, Minn. to farm.
Ethelyn died on February 21, 1987. On Dec. 20, 1987, Johnny was united in marriage to Dorothy (Vandermoon) Cory. After their marriage they lived in Dunnell and he continued to help his sons on the farm.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Anderson of Dunnell, Minn.; his children, Gary (Sandy) Anderson of Dunnell, Minn.; Anita (Doug) Lutterman of Jackson, Minn.; Gayle Anderson of Dunnell, Minn.; Pamela (Michael) Dunn of Meriden; Brent (Shelly) Anderson of Estherville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; Also step-children, Michael (Kathy) Harmelink of Cherokee, Susan (Bill) Museus of North Mankato, Minn., Barbara Nava of Byron, Minn., Colleen (Eric) Maranville of Minnetonka, MN, and David Corey of Maui, HI.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ethelyn Anderson; son, Brian Anderson on Sept. 26, 1998; infant son, Dana Anderson; brothers, Arthur, Hjalmer, Siguard, Frank and Harold; sisters, Margaret Sandberg and Elsie Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his best friend and dog, Casey.
