Patty Smith of Northwest Realty recently announced that she is stepping down as co-owner of the real estate company. Dennis Paltz of Aurelia will be the new co-owner with Karen Peterson.

Peterson and Smith have been partners since 2000, when they purchased Northwest Iowa Realty from Jack Foresman and the late Al Loebig. They changed the name to Northwest Realty, purchased the building at 228 W. Main St., and became one of the leading real estate companies in the county.

Northwest Realty also now has a branch office in Marcus and a total of seven agents.

Paltz has been a realtor with Northwest Realty for nearly two years. He is associated with Paltz Construction of Aurelia , and is a home inspector as well. He and his wife Jill have three children and live in Aurelia.

Smith commented, "I am not retiring! I just wanted to have less administrative work, and I will actually have more time for my clients now. Karen and I have had a successful partnership, and I have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship.

I wish Karen and Denny the very best, and I know Northwest Realty will continue to be successful."
