The church celebration of the Advent Tryst Service is a near 40-year tradition in Cherokee. In recent years, the Methodist and Presbyterian women have joined together to make this the joyful event it is today.
Donated mittens, scarves and hats will adorn the Christmas tree. Monetary gifts are also appreciated. The clothing items will be collected and distributed to children in the Cherokee School District. A free will offering will also be taken. After this service, these items will be distributed to area school children.
Opal Pratt will performing Christmas Carols on her accordion and she with then delight all with a story on the origin of the Christmas Carol.
The Tryst services message is that worship, music, lighting Advent candles, and fellowship help the celebration of Christ's birth expressing Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
