Donna Faye Kelley, age 83, of rural Peterson, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 17, 2012. The family has planned a private service. Donations can be made to Hope Harbor of Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, Storm Lake.
Donna Faye (Powell) was born in Cherokee, on December 8, 1929 to Earl and Beulah (Krout) Powell where she grew up with her two sisters, Bonnie Lou (Kurhts) and Beverly (Nan) (Kintigh). Donna Faye graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee. She married Clifford John Kelley on January 22, 1949 and at 19 years of age, moved with Clifford to the family farm in rural Peterson.
Donna Faye and Clifford raised five children as they farmed their piece of ground they affectionately named, Rio Vista Ranch. Like many Iowa farm families, Donna Faye and Clifford, along with their children, appreciated the struggles and rewards of farming as they worked and played together whether it was baling hay, walking beans to horseback riding.
Donna Faye was a member of the RLDS Church and along with Clifford was often found reading the scriptures with Donna Faye's favorite being John 14 1-4; Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And when I go, I will prepare a place for you, and come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, ye may be also.
