Church honors former Cherokee 'Pastor Ray'

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - The Rev. Ray Kruger, retired pastor of Cherokee Memorial Presbyterian Church, was recently elected to the honorable position of Pastor Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Shakopee, Minn.

A celebration service and reception honoring Pastor Kruger Pastor Emeritus was held in November.

Pastor Ray and wife Jo Ann were especially recognized during the service with token gifts from the church Their son Steve was chosen to deliver the message during the morning service.

Kruger served as Pastor in Cherokee from July 1990 to Oct. 2001, when he retired. They continued to live in Cherokee until 2011 when they returned to Shakopee where he previously had served from April 1976 to July 1990.

Jo Ann received a successful kidney transplant in 2011 and Pastor Ray reports they are both doing well and enjoying living close to their children and grandchildren.
