EVERLY - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys stormed past a winless Clay Central-Everly team, 65-20 in non-conference basketball action here on Monday.

Dylan Spieler led the Eagles' effort, scoring 23 points in just 16 mnutes of action. Spieler also grabbed five rebounds, had three steals and blocked three Maverick shots. Reece Jackson added 10 points and had six steals,Tyler Prunty scored nine points, grabbed 10 boards snd blocked two shots, and Nate Rassel scored eight points, had five rebounds and three steals for the Eagles, who were able to give some game experience to many of their bench players.

MMC Coach Mark Fisher gave credit to CC E's kids, saying "they really played hard and competed tonight. I thought (CC-E player) Chazz Brown had a real nice game. We tried to game plan for him, and he managed to stay in the game anyway and make plays."

Coach Fisher felt the Eagles' intensity was better than in previous games. He felt they communicated much better on defense and he also felt their execution on offense was better than it had been.

The Eagles (5-1) host Remsen St. Mary's on Thursday.
