River Valley girls basketball results

Friday, December 14th, River Valley played against the Ridge View Raptors. At halftime the score was 34-6 with the Raptors taking the lead. The ending came out with Ridge View taking the win with 50-13.

The leading scorer was Carley Burke with 6 points. The leading rebounders were Olivia Goettsch with 7 and Carley Burke with 5.

Head Coach Matt Jenness commented, "Our defensive effort in the second half was great. We defended and held them to 16 points. We have to get off to better starts and continue to make strides offensively."

Ridge View JV beat River Valley JV 26-20. Leading scorers for the Wolverines were Allison Brown with 7 and Abbie Miller with 6.

Saturday, December 15th River Valley competed against West Monona. Halftime score was 27-11, with West Monona ahead. The final score was 43-17 with West Monona taking the victory.

The leading scorers for RV were Payton Goettsch, Olivia Goettsch, and Allison Brown with 5 each. Leading rebounders were Olivia Goettsch with 6 and Carley Burke with 4.

Coach Jenness' commented on the game: "Our second half defense was good again, but we need to extend our stretches of quality basketball. We were able to stick with them for a while, but again need to play better basketball for longer periods of time."

On Monday, December 17th, the Wolverines took on Remsen-Union. The halftime score was 28-9, the Rockets ahead. The final score was 48-24 with R-U taking home the win.

The leading scorers were Jordain Volkert with 6, and Carley Burke and Allison Brown with 5 each.

Coach Jenness commented, "With less turnovers we were able to get more shots off tonight, but we need to finish better in traffic. We continue to show signs of getting better offensively with better ball handling and shooting."

River Valley JV beat Remsen JV 22-17. The leading scorers were Abbie Miller with 7 and Jenna Knaack with 5. Coach Jenness stated, "We were able to use pressure defense to force a lot of turnovers and get ourselves some easy baskets. We also shot pretty well from the free throw line."
