Since it was announced last year that Cherokee County was aligned with Iowa Senate District 2, State Senator Randy Feenstra, Republican from Hull, has been busy meeting with his new constituency.
His standing committee assignments includes Appropriation, Education, Rebuild Iowa, State Government, and the Iowa Ways and Means. Feenstra earned his Bachelors Degree from Dordt College and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University.
He was the sales manager for the Foreign Candy Company for seven years and then served as the City Administrator for Hull for seven years until the fall of 2006, when he was elected as Sioux County Treasurer.
Senator Feenstra plans to work diligently to further the Republican ideals of working for a smaller government, no new taxes, and curbing government spending in Iowa while at the Capitol.
Senator Feenstra has been an active member in his community for years. He currently serves as the chairman of the Sioux County Foundation, and is on several other boards, including the Sioux Center Hospital Executive Board and the Lewis & Clark Regional Water executive board. He also spent 14 years as an EMT for the City of Hull.
Senator Feenstra and his wife Lynette have four children and currently reside in Hull.
