I am writing my last article for this year. As I reminisce about the year of 2012 at the library, I remember how excited the children were to take part in our Summer Reading Program. I had one boy read close to four hundred books. Way to go Evan!
This year I tried some new types of programs. One of these programs was a LEGO party. This was well attended and was for anyone interested in legos and lego building.
I have had some people ask if we will have another lego program. I am hoping to have one in the first part of February.
Another new program was a family story hour which was in the evening. Families came in their pajamas and listened to stories, participated in a silly dance contest, and made a simple craft.
I usually line up programs for the youth, but this year I had an adult program in November. The Apron Lady shared stories about all kinds of aprons from long ago and how they were used. I will have more adult programs in the new year.
I had Preschool Story Time, Terrific Toddlers, and after school programs. I also had several daycares and preschools I read stories to outside the library. I always enjoy reading to the boys and girls. Their reactions are priceless.
The library will have some old programs and continue some of the new programs during the year of 2013. The first Preschool Story Time for three to five year olds will be Friday, January 4 from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. The rest of the month we will meet every Tuesday.
Terrific Toddlers will meet Saturday, January 12 from 10:30 -- 11 a.m. This program is for children ages one to three and their parents or a responsible adult. It's a time to interact with your children as you learn bouncing rhymes, actions rhymes, and participate in movement activities.
I will continue to do my outreach programs for daycares and preschools, but I will not have an after school program in January due to uncertainty about weather. I will also wait for a little warmer weather before having another family story hour.
Don't forget to check out the new books and the January newsletter can be picked up anytime.
Have a Happy New Year!
