Alta-Aurelia girls split two games

The Alta-Aurelia girls basketball team played a pair of games this week, following the holiday break, and the Warriors won one game and lost the other, moving their season record to 3-9.

On Friday, the Warriors hosted Southeast Webster Grand in Alta and fell to the Eagles, 51-28.

Katie Turnquist scored six points and Val Hernadez five to lead Warrior scoring. Taler Stanton led the team on the boards with six rebounds and Christina Heschke had two assists and blocked two shots.

On Tuesday, the Warriors traveled to Storm Lake to face St. Mary's in another Twin Lakes Conference contest, and this time, Alta-Aurelia prevailed by a 53-31 score.

Taler Stanton scored 16 points to pace the Warrior attack, while Val Hernandez scored eight points, freshman Micah Barnes scored seven, and Christina Heschke and Steph Robbins each scored six.

Stanton posted a double-double, as she also swept the boards for 10 rebounds. Robbins and Katie Turnquist turned in good floor games, with Steph having five steals and four assists and Katie having three of each.
