MARCUS - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys held Akron-Westfield to just 15 points through the first three quarters of play here on Tuesday while racking up 45 points themselves, on the way to a 53-36 War Eagle Conference win.

Eagle coach Mark Fisher said he thought his team's intensity was much better than it had been through the first three quarters.

" We played very well defensively and really got after them," the first-year coach remarked. " I thought offensively we were sloppy early, but settled in after the first quarter. We were just more consistent from play- to- play tonight, and played with more urgency. "

Dylan Spieler again led the Eagles with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven steals, while three of his teammates - Zack Kellogg, Reece Jackson and Isaiah Petersen- each scored seven points and Ben Specht added six.

The Eagles (8-2) host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Friday, then travel to Granville on Tuesday to play Spalding.
