ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia boys got off to a great start against Twin Lakes Conference foe South Central Calhoun here on Friday, and maintained their lead on the way to a 59-52 victory.
Mitchel McDonald and Jayden Van Berkum had eight rebounds each to lead the Warriors on the boards, and they each scored seven points as well.
Van Berkum also had four assists, three steals and blocked two shots, and
Jayson Van Haaften scored six, grabbed six rebounfs and dished out four assists. Zach Sliefert scored six and big man Titus Letzring grabbed seven boards and blocked three shots.
"Once again we got off to a great start," summarized Warrior coach Randy Bissen. "(The first half) might have been the best half of basketball we have played all year. We defended just like we wanted to, and offensively we passed the ball great. We are really coming together and starting to play some good team basketball."
The Warriors (5-7) host Cherokee in Alta in non-conference action Thursday.
