Lady Eagles edge Spalding, 42-39

GRANVILLE - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and Spalding Catholic girls entertained folks here with an exciting game of War Eagle Conference basketball hereon Tuesday.

In a game that was tight all the way, MMC wound up with a hard-earned 42-39 victory over the Spartans.

Alissa McDermott led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 10 points, and she was followed closely by Sarah Dreckman and Alex Dreckman, each of whom tallied nine points.

Sarah Bird and Heather Hoefling each grabbed seven rebounds to lead MMC in that department, while McDermott swiped three passes and Sarah Dreckman and Sarah Bird each stole a pair.

It was the second win of the season for Coach Tim Dreckman's Lady Eagles, who travel to Remsen to take on St. Mary's Friday.
