K of C begins annual calendars sales

The Cherokee Knights of Columbus have begun their 21st year of selling money calendars. Knights will be selling the calendars, for $20 each, through Feb. 28 and on March 4, the first drawing for cash will be held. There will be 60 $50 winners and two $500 winners, and winners can pick up their checks at Robinson's Floor Covering. Each year, the Knights also give five $200 scholarships to high school seniors from their cluster, and give $1,500 to area agencies. The Cherokee Knights of Columbus have recently begun their 21st year of selling their money calendars. Each year they have given five $200 scholarships to seniors from their Catholic Communities of Cherokee County.

They also give $1,500 to a needy cause. They started out with a donation to Western Iowa Tech, some years they split their donation and give $750 to one cause and $750 to another.

The Knights have donated to the Cherokee Library, Cherokee Depot, Hospice, the Outreach program at Cherokee Mental Heath Institute, The CRMC Wellness Center, Cherokee Parks and Recreation Department, Cherokee D.A.R.E, the Veterans Memorial, Bright Beginnings Day Care, Cherokee Family Aquatic Center, Gillette Park, Cherokee Community Center, Aurelia Community Center, Martin Access Land Acquisition, C.A.D.A., Washington High School Booster Club and the Rotary Food Back Pack for Weekends, Cherokee Police Department, Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association, and CAP.

This year they donated $750 to the CRMC Home Health/Hospice, $375 to Stan's Kids and $375 to Backpack Buddies, along with five scholarships.

The first drawing for this year's Calendars will be March 4. Drawing are six days a week for 10 weeks. Drawings are all $50 each day with a total of 60 winners at $50 each. There will also be two drawings in May for $500 each.

Calendars may be purchased at Robinson's Floor Coverings and Letsche's Bike Shop, or from one of the Knights.

Winners will be announced on KCHE Radio daily and also in the Chronicle Times. Winners can pick up their checks at Robinson's.
