REMSEN - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys rolled to a 71-46 victory over Remsen St. Mary's in War Eagle Conference basketball action here on Friday.
Eight Eagle players scored, as the bench players got a lot of playing time. Dylan Spieler led MMC in scoring with 13 points, and he also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Andrew Hoefling and Tyler Prunty each scored 12 points for the Eagles, and Prunty had seven rebounds while Hoefling grabbed five boards. Reece Jackson scored nine points, Nate Rassel seven, and Jared Gross, Ben Specht and Zach Kellogg each contributed six points to the Eagle cause.
Matt Wesselmann paced the Hawks with 16 points, and Ethan Biezuns tallied 12.
MMC coach Mark Fisher said he felt his team played one of its best games of the year. He thought the Eagles had good communication on defense and stuck to their game plan for most of the night. He also felt that the team probably executed the offense the most efficiently they have all year, and because of that, they got some really open shots and knocked a lot of them down.
Coach Fisher added that the game was a real team effort, with everybody contributing, "whether making plays or knocking down shots, or crashing the glass and getting rebounds."
The win boosted the Eagles' season mark to 10-2.
