The Pilot Rock DAR Chapter invites the public to attend their annual Awards Day on Sunday, February 3 at 2 p.m. at the Cherokee Community Center Auditorium.

The program will present achievement and service awards to area youth and adults.

Awards will be presented to four high school seniors chosen by their schools as DAR Good Citizens. One of these students will also be announced as the winner of the DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest. The winning essay will be submitted for district judging and the student will be eligible for additional awards.

American History Essay Contest awards will also be presented to students from grades 5-8.

Audiences have always enjoyed listening to the students read their first place essays and are appreciative of the talents shown. First place essays are also eligible for additional awards at the state level.

A Community Service Award will be presented to Steve Thomas of Cherokee for his incredible support of and participation in numerous community projects.

KCHE and The Aurelia Star will be presented appreciation awards for their media coverage of Pilot Rock DAR meetings and activities.

Refreshments will be served following the program.
