Irene Gladys Dobson
Irene Gladys Dobson of Cherokee, 88, passed away Friday evening, July12, 2013 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Kathy Wicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee prior to the memorial service. The family will be present at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time to visit with family and friends. Irene was born September 17, 1924 at Dallas, South Dakota to Arthur O. & Elin (Nelson) Ludvigson. She attended country school in the town of Wausau, Nebraska. She attended her senior year of school in Cleghorn,graduating in 1941. She took one summer session of normal training. She taught rural school for a short time and had also been a clerk in a fabric store. She was married to George Arnold Dobson on March 14, 1946 in Cherokee. Irene lived in Cherokee the past seven years, prior to this living in Cleghorn since 1940. Irene was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and spending winters in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold on August 22, 2010, an infant daughter LaDonna, a sister Mildred Johnson and a brother Melvin Ludvigson.
She is survived by her two children Larry Dean Dobson and his wife Kyra of Peoria, Arizona; Diane Kurtz and her husband Mike of Clarinda; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dorothy Ludvigson of Little Rock,. Arkansas; Evangeline Sins of Cherokee; Homer & Betty Dobson of Tracey, Minnesota; Vaughn and Louise Dobson of Sun City, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
