Evening Prairie Hike

Monday, September 9, 2013

The tall grass prairie takes on a special shine in the fall. The Big Bluestem grasses take on an amber hue and reach for the sky with their towering height. Many of the yellow flowers of fall lure in the insects before frost removes them from the landscape. Stroll through the prairie on a relaxing wildflower hike with the O'Brien County Naturalist.

An "Evening Prairie Hike" will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. Meet at the Prairie Heritage Center for a 1⁄2 mile hike. Wear sturdy shoes and bring your sense of adventure!

The Stewards of the Beautiful Land Workshop will be holding the final of four sessions to teach participants about native grasses and wildflowers at the center beginning at 6 p.m.

Hikers are welcome to join the workshop participants as they explore the prairie and plant a prairie garden at the center. For more information, call the Center at 712-295-7200.
