Raptors roll over Pocahontas Area

HOLSTEIN - Ridge View improved their season record to 6-1 here on Friday with a convincing 49-7 win over Pocahontas Area.

Standout senior quarterback Ryan Garthoff ran for 135 yards on just eight carries for an average gain of 16.9, and crossed the goal line on two occasions. Garthoff also completed 7 of 12 pass attempts for 165 yards and three more scores. He was also intercepted once.

The sizeable lead allowed sophomore quarterback Grant Anderson to also get some game action, and he completed 4 of 6 passes for 44 yards. Matt Wandrey and Peyton Boyle also scored rushing TDs for the Raptors, and Boyle, John Kofmahl and Michael Tiefenthaler also scored on pass receptions.

Wandrey paced the winners in tackles with 10, followed by Ryan Cougill nine, Jared Hinkeldey and Kyle Schiernbeck seven apiece, and Joe Kenny six.

The Raptors travel to Ida Grove Friday to take on Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove (4-3) in District action.
