Tour of 1885 home Saturday

Monday, October 28, 2013

MARCUS - The Computer Genies of NW Iowa genealogy club invites the public to tour an 1885 Swedish homestead house belonging to the Hier family of Marcus.

Nancy Hier, retired teacher and preservationist, will host the event, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday afternoon, November 2nd.

The Hier farm is located two miles east of the truck-stop corner on the south edge of Marcus, one mile north and one-half mile east. The small house has some original furnishings as well as a ladder to the "upstairs" on the outside of the house. The farm has been in the Hier family since it was purchased from the railroad.

Dress warmly if the weather is cool. Nancy often dresses in period costume to direct the tour.

The Computer Genies business meeting will be held at the Marcus Library following the tour. You may phone Linda Mohning at 786-2594 for more information.
