Ridge View boys split games
The Ridge View boys basketball team split two recent road games, slamming Whiting 73-28 after charging to a 52-11 halftime lead; and falling 59-49 to Manson NW Webster.
In the win over Whiting, Daniel Jeckell led Ridge View scoring with 18 points, followed by Zach Tokheim 16, and Jackson Graff 14. Graff also led the Raptors on the boards with seven rebounds, and Garrett Lamp led in assists with seven, and Logan Richard added four.
"We got off to a slow start in the first quarter again but the guys worked through it and turned things around pretty fast and had a great second quarter scoring 37 points against Whiting," noted Ridge View coach Ken Slater.
"The second half we were able to get the bench some much deserved time and everyone came in and contributed something for the win. This was a good way to end a tough week of four games."
In the loss to Manson NW Webster, Tokheim led the scoring with 19 points, while Jeckell and Graff managed 12 apiece. Hudson Spedding led the Cougars with 26 points, and Collin Christensen tallied 14.
Jeckell was a force on the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds, while Graff snagged seven.
"We got off to a slow start in the 1st quarter and were down 9-19," explained coach Slater. "We were able to cut the lead to seven by the end of the half thanks to improved defensive effort and Zach Tokheim breaking out with 15 points.
"MNW broke away again in the third quarter then we fought back again with some big baskets by Jackson Graff. We just couldn't close the gap down from seven points and the lead stayed around 10 points until the end. We played better offensively and it was good to see them play within the offense better tonight."
