Christmas Parade simply wonderful

Thursday, December 12, 2013

We stand and applaud all the hearty, creative souls who participated in Cherokee's "Wonderful World of Christmas Parade" last week in beautiful downtown Cherokee.

With freezing temperatures hovering near the single digits and a brisk north wind, the annual Parade still attracted 35 beautiful lighted floats and/or vehicles (and some colorful participants!), along with hundreds of appreciative onlookers to Downtown Cherokee's designated Entertainment & Cultural District.

Sponsored by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Promotions Team, the annual Parade serves to kick off the Christmas Season and is always a stunning event as it merrily weaves its way down scenic Main Street.

We heartily endorse all participants and congratulate the award winners as selected by the judges. Kudos to Chamber Director Julie Hering Kent and staff for their organizational skills bringing it all to fruition.

Winning first place in the Non-Profit Category at this year's Wonderful World of Christmas Parade was Cherokee Regional Medical Center with their 'Duck Dynasty" float. The Cherokee County 4-H Cavaliers took second place with their poignant "Great Things Start In A Barn" float.

In the Business category, we salute the first place Cherokee State Bank with their "125 Year Birthday" float. Northwest Realty's clever "Find your Heavenly Home" took second place in the Business Category.

To all the participants, thank you for all the hard work and dedication it requires to sponsor a Parade float, and thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and the creative minds and understanding bosses and employees it takes to pull it all off so brilliantly year after year.

Our "Wonderful World of Christmas Parade" is one more shining jewel in the crown that makes this community so special.
