Don't miss the Jazz & Blues Festival !

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

For several weeks on these Chronicle Times pages, you've read all about the prominence and acclaim of the many, varied musicians.

On these pages, you've seen their photos and their bands' photos, and read extensive biographical information and all about their accomplishments.

On these pages, you've learned the Who (accomplished, professional, famous musicians), What (Cherokee Jazz & Blues Festival), and Where (several Cherokee venues).

On these pages you've learned that Festival organizers, along with many other superb volunteers and supporters, have labored the entire past year to make this 14th annual Cherokee Jazz & Blues Festival one of the most star-studded extravaganzas ever.

What a lineup!

All in one fabulous weekend right here in Cherokee, smack dab in the middle of the scenic Little Sioux River Valley. And that weekend is here - Friday and Saturday.

There are four fantastic Pub Crawls Friday night from 9 p.m.- midnight at The Gathering Place, The Gasthaus, Main Street Catering, and The Brightside. The weekend kicks off Friday with 6-9 p.m. special band performances at The Copper Cup.

The Saturday Pub Crawls are from 9 p.m.-midnight at Cherokee Bowl, Gathering Place, and VFW Club.

The big band Saturday Concert is at Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center from 7-10 p.m., and the popular Jam Session at The Gathering Place is 1-5 p.m. Saturday.

It's mind-boggling, and a credit to its organizers knowing that the Cherokee Jazz & Blues Festival is so well-thought- of across the country to be able to attract such magnificent professional musicians all at one time.

The two consecutive nights of Pub Crawls give music lovers a chance to see all the bands, along with the big concert on Saturday night.

Volunteers are needed to help man the doors at the Pub Crawls and concert. Anyone willing to help out should contact the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce at 225-6414.

Tickets for all events are available at The Copper Cup at 425 W. Main St., 225-5287, The Cherokee Bowl at 201 E. Linden St., 225-4311, and the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce at 416 W. Main St., 225-6414. Tickets also are available at the door both Friday and Saturday.
