CORRECTIONVILLE - Undefeated Le Mars Gehlen jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and took a 37-25 bulge in at halftime on their way to a 65-38 boys basketball victory over a good River Valley team here last week.

Wyatt Fitch was the lone Wolverine to break into double figures against the tough Jays defense, scoring 14 points for the home team, while Brennan Riedemann and Devon Byers added eight points apiece.

Colton Keip led Gehlen with 18 points, while Ryan Stoll tallied 13, and Solomon Freking 11.

River Valley sank 20-67 field goals for 30 percent shooting, and were just 2-3 from the foul line. Gehlen made 32-79 shots for 41 percent and netted 6-11 free throws.

Fitch also led his team in rebounding with eight, and Riedemann led in steals and assists with four each. Kneip paced the winning Jays on the boards with 13 for a nifty double-double performance.
