Congratulations Chamber, CAEDC, CIC

Monday, March 2, 2015

The new shared offices of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, Cherokee Area Economic Development and Cherokee Industrial Corporation at 201 W. Main St. are impressive looking- especially the front lobby, with a high metal ceiling, large windows facing Main Street, and a warm, comfortable feel.

Some may question the worth of these organizations in light of the population decline throughout rural areas of the country, but, though economic development efforts cannot entirely roll back the ongoing urbanization of America, that is no reason to give up on the effort.

There have been some successes amid setbacks, and it would be naive to believe that those positive developments would occur without organizations working on behalf of businesses by providing assistance in seeking financing, economic incentives, facility acquisition and promotion.

The renovation of the building was financed by CIC, with no tax dollars going into the project, and the labor and materials were all provided by local businesses.

Congratulations, and thank you for all you do.
