Spring arrives

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The Vernal Equinox arrives at 5:45 p.m. Central Daylight Savings Time on Friday, March 20, according to the Sanford Museum and Planetarium.

The Vernal Equinox is the start of spring, when the Earth is aligned with the sun in such a way as to equalize the ratio of day and night around the globe. The time of daylight during the day will continue grow longer in the northern hemisphere and shorter in the southern hemisphere until the Summer Solstice in June.
