Businesses provide essential support

We all appreciate the volunteers at organizations such as Depot Renovation, Inc., for enriching the cultural and recreational assets of the community.

We also owe a big thanks to the workers and owners at the businesses that provide the expertise and equipment to get things done that would be impractical to accomplish otherwise.

A notable recent effort that took place in Cherokee was the moving of a bunk car to the grounds of the Old Depot, a project that used a crane and lowboy truck-trailer as well as skilled workers to get the job done.

A big "thanks" goes to the people at Haselhoff Construction and Christensen Brothers Construction for making this happen on Thursday. We also thank Schoon Construction for assisting in the original move of the railroad car last fall, to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center for donating the railroading artifact, and to Chris Staver for the donation of the rail car wheels, and there are many others.
