KP/WC teams win MMC Co-Ed Relays
MARCUS - The powerhouse Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central track and field teams won the team titles in both the girls and boys divisions of the MMC Co-Ed Relays here on Monday.
The KP/WC girls edged host Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, 188-139 and the KP/WC boys totaled 243 points, more points than the 2nd-5th place teams combined.
MMC was the only school from the Chronicle Times coverage area to compete, and the Lady Eagles had five first place finishes. Alexis Cave won the 3,000 Meter Run with a time of 12:54.08, with teammate Kayla Brady taking second place with a time of 13:20.69. Raquel Robinson won the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:14.55; Kayla Brady won the 1500 Meter Run in a time of 6:02.55, edging teammate Alexis Cave (6:04.37); and the Lady Eagles won two Relay events, the 4 x 400 and the 800 Sprint Medley.
Other second place MMC finishes included Aspen Woodall in the 200 Meter Dash, with a time of 28.53; the 4 x 100 Relay, the 4 x 200 Relay; and Dawn Henderson in the Shot Put, with a throw of 28-9 and the Discus (94-2).
For the MMC boys, who totaled 60 team points to finish 4th, the top finish was Sam Hueser's tie for first in the High Jump, with a jump of 5-2; Conner Holmes took second place in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.79, and the Distance Medley team also placed second, running the event in a time of 4:12.96.
Third place finishes were garnered by Isaiah Petersen in the Shot Put, with a throw of 41-05 and the Discus, with a throw of 114-06; and Derek Erdman in the 400 Meter Dash, with a time of 57.62. The MMC 4 x 800 Relay also placed third, with a time of 9:58.45.
