Do we know what we know now?
Jeb Bush is getting flak for a confusing answer to a question from Megyn Kelly of Fox News about the 2003 invasion of Iraq. She asked, "Knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion?"
Bush responded,"I would."
When he further elaborated on his answer,it became clear that his response had been based on what was believed at the time of the invasion, not what we know now.
It is not good for a presidential candidate to lack clarity in responding to a question that should be anticipated, but the criticism of the original invasion by almost every presidential candidate is confusing in light of the fact that they seem fine with the subsequent 12 years of war.
Perhaps the more relevant question is, "Knowing what we know now, would you approve remaining mired in what appears to be perpetual war?"
