An outstanding event

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

The Cherokee Community Theater cannot easily exceed expectations because that organization has set expectations so high, but the production of Peter Pan achieves that goal.

The large cast and crew completed their first series of performances on Sunday, and they will perform again Thursday, June 25 through Sunday, June 28 (7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday).

Libby Peterson, in the title role, has a magnificent voice and exceptional comic talent. Andy Linn, as Captain Hook, defines what an evil comic villain should be - very evil and very funny. The highly animated and musically gifted cast makes the production great fun for all ages.

Director Mollie Loughlin, assisted by Assistant Director Jenny Burroughs and Stage Manager Penny Pingrey, brings all the elements together for a spellbinding event.

Musical Director Lee Thorson brings a first-rate orchestra to the musical production.

The stage, lighting, sound, costumers, choreographers and makeup crews all contribute vital parts to the production.

This particular CCT event depends on a fly crew that makes the performances magical.

Thank you to all of you and thank you to the Cherokee Community Theater Board for having the courage to undertake such an ambitious project.

You've shown everyone how great community theater is done.

The following dedication was printed on the Peter Pan programs:

"These Peter Pan productions are dedicated to Wayne "the Wizard" Morris, who is currently flying somewhere in Neverland.
